Conference Agenda (updated September 25)

Every year, AAHPA members come together for our annual conference. Anyone who has been to a conference will attest - it's good people, talking about important and good work. You will learn more than enough to cover the cost of attending through increased savings, efficiency, professional networks and grant opportunities throughout the rest of the year.

Our corporate members rotate the responsibility for hosting the conference. Members can login to see past conference presentations, and all AAHPA awards are available to peruse at any time.

Are you speaking at the conference? Please respond to these questions and reply to Christy as soon as possible! Thank you!

Award Nominations

During the annual conference banquet, the AAHPA honors outstanding individuals in our industry.

The AAHPA is accepting nominations for 2018 Harbormaster (or Port Director) of the Year award.

Criteria for Nomination/Selection:
          • Superior performance in port or harbor management
          • Innovative methods for improving services
          • Creative methods of reducing operating costs
          • Service and support to AAHPA
          • Other actions that have produced marked benefits for port and harbor users.

We truly hope that you'll take a few minutes to consider your Harbormasters and Port Directors. If you believe they fit the criteria, nominating them for this award is easy! We request a simple letter, outlining their qualifications and reasons for your nomination. Nominations are due by August 17, 2018 to be reviewed by our Board of Directors, and will be kept confidential. You can send a nomination using this form, or email our Secretary at info@alaskaharbors.org.  (nominations are closed for 2018)

We also ask our ports and harbors to select deserving Employees of the Year nominees. To be included in the ceremony, please send an email to info@alaskaharbors.org with the name, position, and noteworthy achievements of that employee! Nominations are due by September 28!

Administrative Breakout Day - Thursday, October 11, 2018

Successful ports and harbors have strong operations and administrative systems in place. AAHPA exists to serve and promote Alaska's port and harbor infrastructure, and we are looking to expand our networking to include more administrative support! Beginning last year in Petersburg, again in Seward we'll be including an administrative/office breakout day. A draft agenda will be available. In the meantime, please consider attending this important and valuable opportunity to network and learn!

Notes from the 2017 breakout day in Petersburg are on the Members Only section of the website.
